I met my husband, Gaban when he came to the UK to study for his MSc in Rural Engineering, I was working at the same college and very soon we started dating, and were married just over a year later!
Our marriage was anything but conventional. We spent the first years in Africa, in Gaban’s native Zambia and then in Nigeria. James, my son was born just before we went to Nigeria.
Once James was of school age we returned to the UK and after that Gaban worked as a consultant on development projects mostly in Africa and was often away from home which was hard, but James and I looked forward to Daddy’s return which always felt like Christmas. We also got to travel to some of the places where Gaban worked, off the usual tourist itinerary!
In my book
‘Life and Love in Africa: my journey to Zambia, Nigeria and back’!
I’ve told the story of our travels and the extraordinary adventures we had
Now I feel it ‘s time to
Return to Me
To show that from great sadness it is possible to create a new life. It won’t be the same, because everything changed that day, but it can still be great, just different.

The poems I’m sharing I wrote down
while finishing ‘Life and Love in Africa’
I hope you enjoy them.
